Using Your Gifts for God’s Glory

Have you ever looked at someone who seems to be doing everything right for God—teaching Bible studies, leading worship, mentoring others—and thought, “That could never be me”? Maybe you’ve wondered what your own gifts are, or if you even have any that could make a real difference in God’s Kingdom.

Let me encourage you with this truth:
God has created you with unique gifts, and He wants you to use them—for His glory and for the good of others.

You are gifted for a purpose. In 1 Peter 4:10, we’re reminded:

“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.”

Did you catch that? Each of you. That includes you.

Your abilities, whether they feel big or small, are part of God’s intentional design. Maybe you’re great at organizing, making people feel welcome, writing, listening, creating, leading, or caring for others behind the scenes. Those aren’t just personality quirks. They’re gifts.

And when you surrender them to God, they become tools for transformation.

So where do you begin if you’re not sure what your gifts are?

Here are a few simple ways to explore:

  • Ask God in prayer to show you what He’s placed inside of you.

  • Notice what energizes you when you serve—what comes naturally and brings joy.

  • Talk to trusted people in your life. Friends, mentors, or small group leaders often recognize our strengths before we do.

  • Try things out. Sometimes we don’t discover our gifts until we step out in faith and serve in new ways.

  • Consider taking a spiritual gifts assessment if you want a structured starting point.

The goal isn’t to label yourself—it’s to be open to how God wants to work through you.

Use your gifts right where you are. You don’t have to be a pastor, author, or missionary to make a kingdom impact. God calls us to be faithful where He has planted us. That might look like:

  • Hosting a women’s Bible study

  • Encouraging your coworkers with scripture or prayer

  • Raising children who love and follow Jesus

  • Organizing meals for a family in crisis

  • Creating art that points to God’s beauty

  • Serving coffee at church with a joyful heart

No act of service is too small in the eyes of God. When we offer our gifts to Him—no matter the setting—He multiplies the impact.

It’s easy to feel like our contribution doesn’t matter unless it’s big, public, or praised. But the truth is, faithfulness in the little things matters deeply to God.

Think of the widow who gave two coins (Mark 12:41–44) or the boy who offered his five loaves and two fish (John 6:9). Their offerings weren’t impressive by the world’s standards—but in God’s hands, they became part of a miracle.

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord...” – Colossians 3:23

If you’ve been holding back, wondering if your gifts are worth offering, this is your sign. God created you on purpose, with purpose. The world needs what He’s put inside of you. If you are not sure where to start, check out the giftstest.com to assess what your Spiritual Gifts may be.

So don’t wait until you feel “ready.” Don’t compare yourself to others. Just start right where you are with what you have.

Use your gifts boldly, and watch how God works through your obedience.
